After a decade of monochromatic works on paper, Al Banna taps into a spectrum of color. Like thick honey, he overlays his paper with colored ink and proceeds to top it with a second sheet of paper. Using a paint roller, he brushes over his composition with varying degrees of pressure, so as to see, when the two sheets are separated, endless manifestations reminiscent of vines trailing a path or streams of water rushing through. Imprints plays with the codes of figuration and abstraction, creating organic clusters flowing like natural elements: air, clouds, earth, space.
