The Wedding
Through my heritage research, I wanted to shed light on the practice of a wedding as a momentous occasion in the Emirati society alongside the traditions, rituals, and other preparations for this event.
Weddings symbolize a union and the creation of a new family that will become society's nucleus. Al Banna's The Wedding reflects the intensive preparations made to decorate the home and the bride with brightly coloured clothes. He uses the fabric to personify the exuberance and the state of joy on this occasion. The semi-circular shape symbolizes the gathering of people bearing witness to this event, with contrasting colours and details intertwining together—a union of tradition with the hope and possibility for the future.
